Abstract

This issue of the scientific journal Codex Sapientia focuses on the contemporary challenges of law in Mexico, approaching it as a dynamic social science that shapes power structures, public life, and the protection of rights. Through a critical perspective, the contributions examine the tensions between legal norms, power, and social context, addressing key issues such as institutional corruption, technological innovation, competition in strategic sectors, and legal reforms.

The articles explore topics including anti-corruption governance in the customs system, the use of artificial intelligence in legal processes, monopolistic structures in foreign trade, and the impact of recent criminal law reforms. Additionally, the issue reflects on the transformation of the judicial role in light of oral proceedings and digital justice.

Overall, this edition highlights a turning point for law as a social discipline, emphasizing the need to rethink it as a critical tool not only for regulating reality but also for transforming it toward more just, transparent, and democratic systems.
